Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic (MMP) by name intends to keep an everlasting memory of Late Manmohan Adhikari, the former Prime Minister of Nepal, who could successfully touch the hearts and minds of the people because of his simplicity, spotless image and honesty. This Polytechnic has been established with a generous assistance of the Government of India (GOI). It is located in Hattimuda, a beautiful suburb to Biratnagar Municipality. A motorable road on the bank of Biratnagar branch of Morang- Sunsari canal leads to the Polytechnic site at a distance of 10Kms north to Biratnagar City. MMP has stated its program from the year of 2008.
The assistance from the Government of India includes the infrastructure development, establishment of Mechanicals, Electricals and Electronics Engineering departments as well as the training department and a Computer Centre with all the facilities and amenities. 
The deputation of well exerperienced Indian faculties at the initial stage ensures the quality of the training and education to meet international standard.
Manmohan Memorial Foundation (MMF) has taken a lead role to make available the land required for the establishment of polytechnic. Some of the land has been donated y the public donors mainly from the Biratnagar area, some bought by the foundation itself and the rest bought with grant assistant of the Government of Nepal. The grant provided by the government in recent years has contributed to buy enough land for further development of the Polytechnic.
MMP imparts creative and applicable technical knowledge and skills to the students & trainees using appropriate technology and resources so that the graduates will be acclimated in every comer of the world, which ultimately will help to reduce unemployment in the country and thus contribute on poverty reduction, the national priority.
Thus MMP, in affiliation to Council for Technical Educational and Vocational Training (CTEVT), will produce three years diploma in engineering graduates in the field if electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering that is considered as middle level workforce in the country. The industrial and service sector specialized courses include plumbing, automobile mechanics. Fitter including boiler operator, machine operator, electronics mechanics, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics, carpenter, welder cum fabricator, electrical mechanics, hospital equipment maintenance, telecommunication and production engineering.
Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic is an autonomous institute empowered to provide sound technical skills based on the practical knowledge to prepare the students to meet the challenges of the fast changing world. Today’s need of our country is to provide with such an education and training to upcoming generation that could faster with creativity in the cross section of lives. MMP is continuous striving to fulfill the need of the society by offering programs that provides life skills to the youths of the nations to become self dependent.
In a country, where most of the population over 15 years of age unemployed and a huge number of work force is fleeing of education cannot develop the desired competencies and capabilities for obvious reason. Hence there is the need to explore institution based- project oriented study, laboratory and workshop- centered teaching and practical type of instruction for regular Diploma Courses.
The graduates of MMP will be most suited for supervising and managing shop floor/field and production activities in the industry. They will also be suitable to work in service sector in their respective subject areas. The student- centered approach of instruction will not be an entrepreneur.
